Legal defense membership
Your attorney. Your defense. We cover the fees.
If you ever have to defend yourself, you hire the lawyer you want. Your lawyer decides how to defend you, and whether it was self defense. We don't second guess it. We pay.
Why it matters
Fairline Defense covers your attorney fees when your lawyer asserts a good faith self defense claim. No claims adjuster. No review committee. No second-guessing.
Our differentiator
Who decides whether you're covered?
Most programs reserve the right to review your case and decide whether to cover it. We don't. When your attorney asserts a good faith self defense claim, coverage is on. We have no claims adjuster and no review committee, because the person who should judge your case is the lawyer you hired, not us.
The process
How it works
Call your attorney first.
After any defensive incident, your first call is to your attorney — not to us. Hire the licensed attorney of your choice in your jurisdiction.
Tell us within 30 days.
Notify Fairline Defense that a matter exists and provide your attorney's contact information. Do not send us facts about what happened.
Your attorney asserts the claim.
Your attorney asserts a good faith self defense claim in court or in writing to the prosecutor. That assertion is what activates coverage.
Your attorney sends invoices.
Your attorney submits invoices directly to Fairline Defense at reasonable and customary rates.
We pay your attorney directly.
We pay your attorney directly, including a retainer within five business days of a valid claim.
Why you need Fairline
Why do you need Fairline Defense?
A good faith act of self defense can still result in arrest, prosecution, and civil suit. The legal fees alone can reach six figures before a verdict.
Your attorney should be chosen by you, not by your budget.

Be prepared
If you use a firearm or other defensive tool in a self-defense situation, Fairline Defense is there to make sure your attorney gets paid.
Make sure your attorney gets paid. That is what we do.
Transparency
What we don't do.
We are not a hotline. We do not have a 2am number, because at 2am you should be calling your attorney, not a call center. We keep business hours, and we answer questions about your membership by email or through the site. What we do is make sure your lawyer gets paid.
Fairline Defense is a subscription service, not an insurance company, and does not sell insurance. Membership provides coverage of attorney fees, at reasonable and customary rates and up to stated per incident limits, only for the portion of fees attributable to a good faith self defense claim asserted by a licensed attorney of the member's choice. Fairline Defense is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
